Visiting the OSS Orthopaedic Hospital Campus

At OSS, we understand that preparing for surgery may cause nervousness, especially if you haven’t previously had surgery.

We hope the information in this section will help you feel comfortable and relieve some of your concerns. Whether you are a patient or visitor at the OSS Orthopaedic Hospital, we want your stay to be as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Our goal is to provide you with a wonderful patient experience and an excellent clinical outcome. Your care is of the utmost importance to OSS. From your admission to surgery and recovery, we are focused on your comfort and peace of mind.

Hospital Visiting Hours

The visiting hours for the inpatient nursing floor are unrestricted.   

Our policy is to maintain a safe and secure environment while allowing patients to have family members and/or a support person with them during their medical stay at OSS Orthopaedic Hospital.  Patients may have no more than two visitors at a time with the understanding that when the patient is being attended to by the staff, the visitors may be asked to step out of the room and wait in a non-clinical are, i.e. the hallway, the cafe, or waiting area.  The OSS Orthopaedic Hospital will not discriminate against visitors based on age, sex, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or religious beliefs. 

At time of registration, each patient is requested to have one family member/support person accompany them to registration.  Additional family members/support persons can wait in the main lobby. Click here for information on what to expect while you are waiting for your loved one in surgery. 

Pre-Op: One family member/support person may be allowed into pre-op under the discretion of the nurse responsible for that patient for special circumstances, i.e. surgery delays.  

Recovery:  Visitors will only be allowed in the recovery area at the discretion of the charge nurse.  

Surgery:  Family members/support persons are not allowed at any time, without exception, to observe surgical or invasive procedures done within the hospital.

Overnight stays: One overnight visitor is permitted with the understanding that when the patient is being attended to by the staff, the visitors may be asked to step out of the room and wait in a non-clinical are, i.e. the hallway, the cafe, or waiting area.  The patient will be asked to identify the person who will remain with them overnight.  No one under the age of 18 will be permitted to stay overnight.

Children 8 years or older, in good health, and under constant adult supervision, may visit patients during general visiting hours, unless otherwise indicated. 

The cafeteria hours are Monday – Friday  6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
